Can technology help reduce your risk of a premises liability suit?

On Behalf of | Jun 3, 2021 | Personal Injury

Slip-and-falls are some of the most expensive incidents that can occur in a business. Within a matter of seconds, someone could fall and suffer a brain injury or other serious medical issue because of wet floors, excess dirt or even spilled products.

It is very difficult for businesses, particularly retailers, to mitigate the risk of a slip-and-fall happening on their premises. It only takes a few seconds for a customer or employee to cause an issue that will lead to someone else calling.

You should not have to overstaff your company just to monitor the space for messes that require attention. Thankfully, technology has some solutions that could help prevent slip-and-falls from occurring.

Cleaning robots are smarter and more effective than they used to be

In the years since the introduction of the first robotic vacuum, robotic cleaning technology has come a long way. There are now units capable of not just dry brushing or vacuuming floors but also of mopping or even sanitizing.

Companies also have robotic concierges and similar systems in development that could revolutionize how businesses keep their facilities safe and clean. In the next few years, you may be able to invest in technology that all but eliminates the physical presence of slip-and-fall risks in your store.

Additionally, companies have announced artificial intelligence (AI) software that could work with security cameras to detect fluid on the floors so that businesses can manually clean quickly when necessary. Although this technology may not yet be widely available, businesses may be able to invest in such software and cleaning machinery in the future to reduce their risk of a costly lawsuit.
