Biography
Cherise brings more than 10 years of legal experience to Birch Horton Bittner & Cherot, with a background rooted in advocacy for underserved Alaskans. Prior to joining the BHBC team in 2019, she held key roles for the State of Alaska, including the Office of Public Advocacy’s Child Advocacy Unit, the Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program, the Public Guardian/Adult Conservatorship program, and the Public Defender Agency’s Statewide Services program. She also served as Co-Chair of the Governor’s Denali Peak Performance Award program, which honors State employees for exemplary public service.
At BHBC, Cherise has developed extensive experience in both state and federal courts, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She provides critical support across a broad range of matters, including complex commercial transactions, municipal tax foreclosures and public records requests, personal injury, criminal defense, and civil litigation. Her responsibilities include processing large-scale discovery using various e-discovery platforms, conducting legal research, and coordinating trial logistics such as witness preparation, courtroom presentation and technology setup, and serving as an ongoing liaison with court personnel and other involved parties. Highly regarded for her strong managerial skills and technical proficiency, Cherise takes a detail-oriented, adaptive, and client-focused approach to every case.
