Alaska’s coastline is one of our state’s greatest resources, and it takes a community effort to keep it that way. On May 16, members of the Birch Horton Bittner & Cherot team traded briefcases for garbage bags and headed to Whittier to help clean up the shoreline.
Senior Counsel Richard Moses and Holly Wells, along with family and friends, spent the day clearing a stretch of beach of the debris that typically washes ashore over the winter months. But the standout find of the day wasn’t trash at all — it was history. Richard and Josh unearthed several hundred pounds of old metal debris left behind from the Army in Whittier decades ago, a reminder of the town’s unique military history along the Prince William Sound.
“It was cold, it was beautiful, and it was a lot more fun than sitting in the office. We were glad to spend the day giving back to the Whittier shoreline and enjoying a little Alaska along the way.”
Whittier’s coastline is part of what makes this corner of Alaska so special, and events like this one help preserve it for the next generation of hikers, boaters, and visitors. BHBC is proud to support team members who roll up their sleeves for causes like this one.
