Biography

Ms. Spies joined the Firm in the summer of 2024. Her practice focuses on Natural Resources and Energy, Animal, Aquarium and Zoo law as well as government contract and complex litigation matters.  Ms. Spies received her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School after graduating with honors. While in law school, Ms. Spies clerked for the Environmental Protection Agency as a Honors Law Clerk in the Air Enforcement Division and participated in key emissions enforcement cases. She further worked as a Student Attorney in the Criminal Defense and Justice Clinic defending multiple clients in both criminal and civil cases. Ms. Spies was a member of the Federal Communications Law Journal, Lambda Law, International Law Society, and the treasurer of both the Environmental and Energy Law Association and the Disability Law Society. Ms. Spies received her undergraduate degree with a B.S. in Environmental Science and Political Science from Emory University where she successfully completed a honors thesis on agricultural greenhouse gas emissions and graduated cum laude.
